Reliability Program Management Guide. NOV 1973
Authors:  J. E. Drennan; R. A. Yereance; J. L. Easterday; BATTELLE COLUMBUS DIV OH
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only. This report consists of guidelines for an Air Force Program Manager directing a program to develop and produce highly reliable electronic equipment. The subject matter is restricted to reliability program management with some reference to related items of maintainability and cost. The body of the report considers the requirements and procedures ofr conducting the reliability aspects of a program including a Program Manager's checklist, initial program requirements, program plans for ...

IROS Cost Study for the AN/AAS-18 Infrared Detecting Set. AUG 1972
Authors:  OGDEN AIR LOGISTICS CENTER HILL AFB UT ENGINEERING DIV
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only. This report presents the results of a cost of ownership study on the AN/AAS-18 infrared detecting set. The average recurring annual cost was found to be $6160 per set with a mean-time-between-failure (MTBF) of 5.51 hours. A sensitivity analysis was performed to determine the effect of a reduction in failures on the cost of ownership. The analysis showed that if the MTBF could be increased to 50 hours or greater ...

Reliability Prediction and Demonstration for Missile and Satellite Electronics. NOV 1968
Authors:  Dwight Q. Bellinger; Harold N. McBride; Edward H. Bootman; TRW SYSTEMS GROUP REDONDO BEACH CA
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only. This study evaluates the accuracy of a variety of pre-design and stress analysis reliability prediction techniques, applied to missile and satellite electronic equipments. Sources of prediction inaccuracy are investigated and identified. New and improved prediction techniques are developed and tested. Equipment design approach categories having different prediction accuracies for predictions performed in accordance with the RADC Reliability Notebook, Volume II, are developed and identified with statistical distributions characterizing their inaccuracies. ...

Reliability Prediction and Demonstration for Ground Electronic Equipment. NOV 1968 231 pages
Authors:  Dwight Q. Bellinger; Gerald M. Pittler; Robert E. Shelton; TRW SYSTEMS GROUP REDONDO BEACH CA
The full text of this report is available for sale. This study evaluates the accuracy of pre-design and stress analysis reliability prediction techniques, including the RADC Reliability Notebook, Volume II, stress analysis method, when applied to a variety of ground electronic equipment. Sources of prediction inaccuracy are investigated and identified. Program-related factors significant to the achievement of reliability and prediction accuracy are identified and a quantitive rating system is established and related to system prediction accuracy. New and improved pre-design ...

ESTIMATE OF THE RELIABILITY OF SCHEMES WITH PERMANENT REDUNDANCY UNDER CONSIDERATION OF THE POSSIBILITY OF A DEPARTURE OF THE SYSTEM PARAMETER BEYOND THE TOLERANCE LIMITS (OTSENKA NADEZHNOSTI SKHEM POSTOYANNOGO REZERVIROVANIYA S UCHETOM VOZMOZHNOSTI UKHOD 28 NOV 1967
Authors:  A. M. Margulis; FOREIGN TECHNOLOGY DIV WRIGHT-PATTERSON AFB OHIO
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.Constant redundancy represents one of the methods for improving system reliability, the failure of any of the elements however, results in a change in the output parameters. The author investigates the determination of the probability of failure-free operation of constant redundancy systems up to a specific time, provided the output parameter of the system remains within the limits of tolerance. The solution is presented and the case of small tolerances ...

MAXIMIZATION OF SYSTEM RELIABILITY WITH LIMITED RESOURCES. JUL 1967
Authors:  Lawrence D. Bodin; CALIFORNIA UNIV BERKELEY OPERATIONS RESEARCH CENTER
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only. The optimization of system reliability of a series parallel system containing t types of components is found where the cost of purchasing the components is disregarded, a component can be assigned to more than one component position, and a limited supply of components is available for assignment. The optimal solution is found by ranking the reliabilities of the components of each type and searching over these ranks in the orders ...

PHYSICS OF FAILURE IN ELECTRONICS. VOLUME III, 1964
Authors:  M. F. Goldberg; Joseph Vaccaro; IIT RESEARCH INST CHICAGO ILL
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only. The proceedings of the 1964 symposium on the physics of failure in electronics held at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago are presented. Papers are presented on: Test, analysis, and correlation; Surface effects; Principles and applications; Effects in films; Bulk effects.

THE THEORETICAL FOUNDATION OF THE MAINTENANCE OF COMPLEX EQUIPMENT, JUN 1958
Authors:  Erich Pieruschka; REDSTONE ARSENAL HUNTSVILLE ALA
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only. This study is concerned with the theoretical aspects of the maintenance of complex equipment. Starting with a discussion of the mortality and force of mortality functions, the factors governing repair maintenance and preventive maintenance are developed. (Author)
