Surface Attack Guided Missile (SAGMI) Loads Analyses. AUG 1972
Authors:  William W. Dyess Jr; AIR FORCE ARMAMENT LAB EGLIN AFB FL
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only. This report covers the SAGMI (Surface Attack Guided Missile) to launcher interface reaction loads analysis and the SAGMI/launcher to AERO-27/F-4 interface reaction loads analyses. The basic approach used was that delineated in specification MIL-A-8591D. Several modifications to the methodology of derivation of inputs were used to simulate more accurately the conditions expected during flight. (Author)

AN IMPROVED DISCRETE-ELEMENT ANALYSIS AND PROGRAM FOR THE LINEAR-ELASTIC STATIC ANALYSIS OF MERIDIONALLY-CURVED, VARIABLE-THICKNESS, BRANCHED THIN SHELLS OF REVOLUTION SUBJECTED TO GENERAL EXTERNAL MECHANICAL AND THERMAL LOADS. PART I: ANALYSIS AND EVALUA MAR 1968
Authors:  Emmett A. Witmer; Evelyn W. Mack; Theodore H. H. Pian; Barbara A. Berg; MASSACHUSETTS INST OF TECH CAMBRIDGE AEROELASTIC AND STRUCTURES RESEARCH LAB
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.An improved discrete-element analysis and computer program utilizing meridionally-curved and/or conical elements of revolution are presented for the linear-elastic, static load-deflection analysis of meridionally-curved, variable-thickness, single-layer, branched, thin shells of revolution subjected to concentrated or distributed external loading as well as thermal loading. Numerous problems which exercise various options of the program and the analysis have been solved, and comparisons have been made with available independent solutions. Part 1 of ...

COMPLETE DYNAMIC RESPONSE OF RATE-SENSITIVE STRUCTURES, OCT 1966
Authors:  Nicholas Perrone; Tamim El-Kasrawy; CATHOLIC UNIV OF AMERICA WASHINGTON D C
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.A mathematical model is presented of a pressure loaded rather than an impulsively loaded structural element. As the prototype of a general structure the dynamically loaded thin ring is considered. For a constant pressure pulse, exact and approximate responses are calculated and differ by only a few percent. In the approximate solution the yield stress is taken to be a constant associated with the peak strain rate (which occurs at ...

THEORETICAL STUDY OF DUCTED PROPELLER BLADE LOADING, DUCT STALL AND INTERFERENCE. 19 SEP 1966
Authors:  M. R. Mendenhall; A. R. Kriebel; S. B. Spangler; ITEK CORP PALO ALTO CALIF VIDYA DIV
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.A theoretical analysis was made to predict the performance of an isolated ducted propeller, with emphasis on real propeller and frictional effects. The various tasks performed are the following. An analysis was developed to predict, for a specified propeller and duct configuration, the performance in axial flow. The quantities predicted include propeller and duct thrust, propeller inflow velocity, and radial distribution of propeller loading and angle of attack. As a ...

BENDING OF CIRCULAR PLATES CONFINING AND INCOMPRESSIBLE LIQUID. AUG 1966
Authors:  Arnold D. Kerr; COLD REGIONS RESEARCH AND ENGINEERING LAB HANOVER N H
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.Frozen potholes subjected to lateral loads suggest the study of the effect of the confined incompressible liquid upon the behavior of the covering ice plate. Since, for loads of short duration, no creep is expected, the plate may be assumed to behave elastically. The method of solution is described and two examples are treated in detail. A comparison of numerical results shows the strong effect of the confined incompressible liquid ...

DYNAMICALLY LOADED STRIP FOOTING BURIED IN DRY SAND. AUG 1965
Authors:  Charles R. White; NAVAL CIVIL ENGINEERING LAB PORT HUENEME CALIF
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only. The report describes the dynamic loading of a 12-inchwide by 18-inch-deep by 6-foot-long concrete footing, representing the strip footing of a subsurface shelter. Boundary conditions simulated those of a torsionally restrained footing of a flexible arch structure test-loaded at several different depths of burial. Static overburden pressure was applied only on one side to simulate the footing of an exterior wall. Dynamic loads from 5 to 40 kips per square ...

WELDED CONTINUOUS FRAMES AND THEIR COMPONENTS. ROTATION CAPACITY OF BEAMS, MAR 1965
Authors:  Robert P. Kerfoot; LEHIGH UNIV BETHLEHEM PA FRITZ ENGINEERING LAB
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.An analysis of a three span beam is used to illustrate the effect of yield strength on rotation capacity. The analysis consists of: determination of the rotation capacity required to permit the formation of a mechanism, determination of the rotation capacity available, and determination of limiting values of length to depth and unbraced length to ensure that adequate rotation capacity is available. The limiting values of length to depth ratio ...

AN INVESTIGATION OF THE EFFECTS OF DYNAMIC LOADS ON THE SHEAR STRENGTH OF SOILS. JAN 1965
Authors:  George W. Barnes; ARIZONA STATE UNIV TEMPE SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.Soils supporting the foundations of structures subjected to vibrating loads often exhibit strength and elastic properties which are considerably different from the properties of the same soil under static conditions. The purpose of this investigation was to develop an apparatus which could be used for laboratory investigations of the effects of dynamic stress conditions on the shear strength of a soil. An attempt was also made to determine the effects ...

DEFORMATIONS AND STABILITY OF SPHERICAL SHELLS UNDER ACTION OF CONCENTRATED LOADS AND UNIFORM PRESSURE. JUN 1962
Authors:  R. M. Evan-Iwanowski; T. C. Loo; SYRACUSE UNIV RESEARCH INST NY
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.Deformations and collapses of a series of spherical shells with a wide range of geometrical parameters and edge supports subjected to the action of concentrated loads, uniform loads, and combination of uniform and concentrated loads have been investigated. The pre-buckling and post-buckling histories of the deflections, stress distributions, and critical curves (showing the relationship between critical loadings and geometry parameter) have been determined.
