THE COMPOSITION OF MITOCHROME AND CYTOCHROME OXIDASE FROM RAT LIVER MITOCHONDRIA, 21 OCT 1963
Authors:  Herman W. Shmukler; NAVAL AIR DEVELOPMENT CENTER JOHNSVILLE PA AVIATION MEDICAL ACCELERATION LAB
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.Purified preparations of mithchrome and cytochrome oxidase from rat liver mitochondria were subjected to chemical analysis to determine whether these two proteins are similar. The large differences in their amino acid composition as well as the absence of copper in mitochrome and its presence in cytochrome oxidase and the presence of ethanolamine in mitochrome and its absence in cytochrome oxidase allow only one conclusion: mitochrome and cytochrome oxidase are different ...

THE NON-PROTEIN AMINO ACIDS AND RELATED COMPOUNDS OF RAT LIVER MITOCHONDRIA, 18 OCT 1963
Authors:  Herman W. Shmukler; B. David Polis; NAVAL AIR DEVELOPMENT CENTER JOHNSVILLE PA AVIATION MEDICAL ACCELERATION LAB
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only. The non-protein amino acids and related compounds of rat liver mitochondria have been analyzed by automatic ion exchange chromatography. Twentyseven ninhydrin positive peaks were obtained. The identity of these chromatographic peaks is discussed. Mitochondria frozen at -20 degrees for 24 hours showed no change in the free amino acid composition; however, a fourfold increase in the free peptide content was observed. Storage of fresh mitochondria at 0 degrees for 6 ...
