This information is provided for reference purposes only.An excessive, shaft-frequency vibration problems was identified on the hull and superstructure of the PG-84 class boats. A systematic series of trials coupled with computer analysis led to the isolation of the exciting mechanism. This mechanism was found to be the result of hydrodynamically induced propeller forces which were caused by deviation from propeller specifications.
