This report summarizes the evaluation of titania nanotubes using nitrogen isotherm data, water ...

Fuel System Durability--U.S. Coast Guard MAY 2008 68 pages
Authors:  Douglas M. Yost; SOUTHWEST RESEARCH INST SAN ANTONIO TX DEPT OF FLUIDS AND LUBRICATION TECHNOLOGY
The full text of this report is available for sale. This project attempted to determine the fuel lubricity requirements of the Sulzer 12ZAV40S fuel injection system. Wear rates with F-76 and JP-5 fuels were attempted using radioactive tracer technologies using a fuel injection system test stand. A Fast Randomized Algorithm for Overdetermined Linear Least-Squares Regression 28 APR 2008 15 pages
Authors:  Vladimir Rokhlin; Mark Tygert; YALE UNIV NEW HAVEN CT DEPT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE
The full text of this report is available for sale.We introduce a randomized algorithm for overdetermined linear least-squares regression. Given an arbitrary full-rank m n matrix A with m > n, any m 1 vector b, and any positive real number epsilon, the procedure computes an n 1 vector x which minimizes the spectral norm ||Ax- b|| to relative precision epsilon. The algorithm typically requires O ((log(n) + log(1/epsilon))mn+n3) floating-point operations. This cost is less than the O(mn2) required ...

(Theme 2 Quantum Computing) Nanostructured Surface Plasmon Resonators 03 APR 2008 6 pages
Authors:  Robert Armstrong; NEW MEXICO STATE UNIV REGENTS LAS CRUCES
The full text of this report is available for sale.Nano-scale sub-wavelength plasmon resonators will be fabricated by e-beam lithography, and evaluated to determine their suitability for solid-state quantum computing and other applications. The goal of the spectroscopic studies is to carry out spectroscopic, and especially nonlinear spectroscopic, studies of fractal/microcavity (including PBG cavities) composites, and to assess the effect of metal nanoparticle quantum well structures on the spectra. There will be an assessment of the potential of such structures ...
