Treatment of mice with Bordetella pertussis vaccine resulted in resistance to mouse adenovirus infection. Antiviral activity was associated with surface components of B. pertussis. Acellular fractions with antiviral activity were obtained by relatively gentle extraction methods, i.e., 1.0 M NaCl extraction or Waring blender treatment.
