Use of Personnel Flow Models for Analysis of Large Scale Work Force Changes FEB 86
Authors:  E. S. Bres III; R. J. Niehaus; F. J. Sharkey; C. L. Weber; OFFICE OF THE CHIEF OF NAVAL OPERATIONS WASHINGTON DC
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only. This report describes the use of several personnel flow models as applied to anticipated large scale work force changes in U.S. Navy shipyards. The first applications show how simple personnel flow models can be developed using spreadsheet software or a microcomputer. The final application shows the use of a mainframe based 'flexible' flow model to include the effects of internal staffing decisions. Keywords: Personnel flow models; Job analysis; Personnel statistical ...

A Unified Approach to Serial Search Spread-Spectrum Code Acquisition. Part 2. A Matched Filter Receiver MAY 84
Authors:  A. Polydoros; C. L. Weber; UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA LOS ANGELES DEPT OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only. The unified theory developed in Part I is employed here in the analysis of a noncoherent, matched-filter (fast-decision-rate) code acquisition receiver in a direct-sequence spread-spectrum system. The results illustrate the dynamic dependence of the mean acquisition time on system parameters, such as the prediction signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), the decision threshold settings, and the ratio of the decision rate to the code rate. Keywords include: Serial Search, Spread-spectrum, Matched-Filter Receiver, Code ...

A Unified Approach to Serial Search Spread-Spectrum Code Acquisition. Part 1. General Theory MAY 84
The purpose of this two-part paper is threefold: (1) Part I discusses the code-acquisition problem in some depth and (2) also provides a general extension to the approach of analyzing serial-search acquisition techniques via transform-domain flow graphs; (3) Part II illustrates the applicability of the proposed theoretical framework by evaluating a matched-filter (fast-decision rate) noncoherent acquisition receiver as an example. The theory is formulated in a general manner which allows ...

Research Trends in Military Communications: Proceedings of a Workshop Held at Wickenburg, Arizona on 1-4 May 1983 17 DEC 1983
Authors:  R. A. Scholtz; C. L. Weber; UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA LOS ANGELES COMMUNICATION SCIENCES INST
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only. This document contains the proceedings of the workshop Research Trends in Military Communications, held May 1-4, 1983, in Wickenburg, Arizona. Sponsored by the Army Research Office (under Contract DAAG29-83-M-0065) and organized by the Communication Sciences Institute of the University of Southern California, the workshop had as its objective the review of basic research in spread spectrum communications, the evaluation of present needs, and the determination of fruitful future research areas. ...

Principles of Spread Spectrum Systems 26 SEP 1983
Authors:  C. L. Weber; UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA LOS ANGELES COMMUNICATION SCIENCES INST
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.A summary of the work accomplished under ONR Contract No. N00014-82- K-0328 is presented for the year Sept. 1, 1982-Sept. 1, 1983. This is accomplished by presenting the abstracts of the papers published and those that have been accepted during this reporting period. In addition, three students received their Ph.D degree as a result of efforts supported and/or directed under this ONR contract. Abstracts of these dissertations are also included ...
