THE ACTION OF CARBOXYPEPTIDASES A AND B AND LEUCINE AMINOPEPTIDASE ON HORSE HEMOGLOBIN, 27 JUL 1964
Authors:  Jocelyn E. Purdie; David B. Smith; NATIONAL RESEARCH COUNCIL OF CANADA OTTAWA (ONTARIO) DIV OF BIOSCIENCES
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.Carboxypeptidase A releases histidine and tyrosine from horse oxy- and deoxy-hemoglobins; carboxypeptidase B releases arginine only. In both cases, action is more rapid with the oxygenated form. Frozen storage appears to alter the structure of hemoglobin, permitting the two enzymes together to digest further into the protein. Leucine aminopeptidase had no detectable effect on horse hemoglobin. (Author)

SOME ASPECTS OF THE STRUCTURE OF HEMOGLOBIN, 01 NOV 1963
Authors:  David B. Smith; NATIONAL RESEARCH COUNCIL OF CANADA OTTAWA (ONTARIO) DIV OF APPLIED BIOLOGY
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.An outline of present ideas concerning the arrangement, folding, and chemistry of the polypeptide chains of hemoglobin is given with some references to present knowledge of myoglobin. New material includes a partial amino acid sequence of the beta-chain of horse hemoglobin, details concerning the amono acids lining the heme pocket of horse hemoglobin, and the effects of carboxypeptidases A and B on horse oxy- and horse deoxy-hemoglobin. The kinetics of ...
