Instrumentation for Real-Time Information Extraction from RHEED and Correlation Using Scanning Probe Microscopy: Applications to Si-Nano- Electronics JUL 1998 8 pages
Authors:  M. Krishnamurthy; D. J. Swenson; T. J. Schulz; MICHIGAN TECHNOLOGICAL UNIV HOUGHTON
The full text of this report is available for sale. This project involved the procurement and installation of enhancements to Michigan Technological University's Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) facility. MBE is a thin film deposition technique that permits precise control of multiple element fluxes to a surface, permitting alloy layers as thin as one monolayer to be prepared under carefully controlled conditions of vacuum and temperature. Unlike most other thin film preparation techniques, the deposition conditions for MBE can be far ...

Analysis of Pupil Plane Target Characterization Experiments APR 1998 79 pages
Authors:  J. R. Fienup; C. C. Aleksoff; T. J. Schulz; ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH INST OF MICHIGANANN ARBOR
The full text of this report is available for sale.We investigated approaches for gathering information about a missile at long ranges employing flood-illumination by a laser and pupil-plane arrays of detectors. We catalogued target parameters that could be characterized with these measurements. We showed the ability to estimate the length, width, and orientation of the missile from pupil-plane speckle patterns. We demonstrated shape reconstruction from the autocorrelation function and improvements in those results by using a sidelobe-reduction algorithm. We ...

CEC Sale of Federal Spectrum 13 NOV 1996

Military Satellite Communications: DOD Needs to Review Requirements and Strengthen Leasing Practices FEB 1994
Authors:  T. J. Schulz; H. H. Thomson; P. F. Crosetto; GENERAL ACCOUNTING OFFICE WASHINGTON DC NATIONAL SECURITY AND INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS DIV
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.During the past several years, the Congress has been critical of DOD'S management of military satellite communications-a primary concern being high costs. Congressional reports in 1989 and 1990 directed DOD to prepare a comprehensive, affordable architecture that defined all satellite communication requirements and potential solutions to satisfy the requirements. In November 1991, DOD published its military satellite communications architecture study that identified several alternatives for satisfying requirements, including the use ...
