Scattering by Spheroidal and Rough Particles DEC 1982
Authors:  Donald W. Schuerman; Ru T. Wang; ARMY ARMAMENT RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT COMMAND ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND MD CHEMICAL SYSTEMS LAB
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.We live in a world rich in the phenomena of electromagnetic scattering; the blue of the sky, the wonderful colors of colloidal suspensions, rainbows, and, indeed, almost every visual experience is the result of scattering. Curious and analytical minds have been attracted to the scientific explanation of these phenomena in terms of the physical processes involved. This effort, which has been continued from ancient times, has evolved into light scattering ...

Extinction by Randomly Oriented, Axisymmetric Particles. JUN 1982
Authors:  Ru T. Wang; Donald W. Schuerman; FLORIDA UNIV GAINESVILLE
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only. The extinction, averaged over random particle orientations, is presented for each of 49 axisymmetric particles. These 2:1 prolate and oblate spheroids, 4:1 cylinders and disks, and 4:1 prolate and oblate spheroids have a variety of refractive indexes (m). Most results are from direct microwave analog measurements. Some were calculated according to the spheroids theory of Asano and Yamamoto (1975). The 49 extinctions are compared with those calculated by Asano and ...

Experimental Results of Multiple Scattering NOV 1981
Authors:  Donald W. Schuerman; Ru T. Wang; STATE UNIV OF NEW YORK AT ALBANY SPACE ASTRONOMY LAB
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.Microwave analog measurements of scattering by ensembles of 2n(n=1,2, 3) interacting spheres are presented. Emphasis is placed on the amplitude and phase measurements of the forward scattered wave as a function of the mutual separation of the spheres and the orientation of the ensembles with respect to the incident beam. A few side scattering and angular distribution measurements indicate the existence of specular scattering at particular array orientations for some ...

Experimental Results of Multiple Scattering. JUL 1980
Authors:  Donald W. Schuerman; Ru. T. Wang; STATE UNIV OF NEW YORK AT ALBANY SPACE ASTRONOMY LAB
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only. This report consists of two separate articles in which microwave analog measurements of scattering by non-isotropic spheres, stacked 7-cylinder rough particles, and 2n(n=1,2,3) spheres are presented. Emphasis is placed on extinction measurements (theta = 0 deg scattering) but some side scattering data (40 deg < theta < 140 deg) is presented in the first paper which is devoted solely to scattering by multiple spheres.
