An improved experimental method for studying vertical soap films slowly pulled out of a solution is described and the interpretation of the optical thickness measurements is discussed. The behavior of mobile films presents complications which are described. Rigid films on the other hand give results for films thicker than 800 1100 Angstroms, which agree very closely with Frankel's law relating film thickness to the velocity of pull-out.
