The Interaction of Kinetic Energy Penetrators With Geomaterials and Concrete JAN 1999 72 pages
Authors:  C. A. Ross; M. J. Schmidt; N. D. Cristescu; O. Cazacu; FLORIDA UNIV SHALIMAR GRADUATE ENGINEERING AND RESEARCH CENTER
The full text of this report is available for sale.A large diameter split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) was used to generate dynamic shear strength and confined/unconfined compressive data for mortar. In addition quasistatic shear and compressive strength data were generated for the same mortar. The new shear specimen was modeled using finite element analysis to verify its validity. Strain rate sensitivity of the shear response of mortar is very similar to that of the tension and compression data. A ...

Electron Beam Transport in the Ionosphere - Energy Deposition and Optical Emissions Based upon the Combined Effects of Plasma Turbulence and Particle-Particle Interactions FEB 1982
Authors:  D. J. Strickland; D. L. Lin; V. W. Pine; M. J. Schmidt; BEERS (ROLAND F) INC ALEXANDRIA VA
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only. The problem of electron beam propagation in the E-region is examined. A model is developed to describe that part of beam spreading due to plasma turbulence. The basis of the model is that the given turbulence can cause a series of effective displacements delta r(GC) of the beam electron guiding centers through a corresponding series of briefly experienced perpendicular components of the turbulent electric field. Weak turbulence theory is considered ...
