Arcjet Neutralization of Hall Thrusters. II: Experimental Demonstration 03 OCT 2003 29 pages
Authors:  Quentin E. Walker; N. Gascon; Mark A. Cappelli; William A. Hargus Jr.; John A. Schilling; AIR FORCE RESEARCH LAB EDWARDS AFB CA PROPULSION DIRECTORATE
The full text of this report is available for sale. This paper examines the use of an arcjet to neutralize Hall thrusters, as such a hybrid arcjet-Hall thruster concept can fill a performance niche amongst available space propulsion options. We report on experiments that determine how much electron current can be drawn to a surrogate anode from the plume of low power arcjets operating on hydrogen and helium, and demonstrate the first successful operation of a low power Hall thruster-arcjet ...

OPERATION GREENHOUSE. Scientific Director's Report of Atomic Weapon Tests at Eniwetok, 1951. Annex 2.7. Thermal Radiation Injury, 01 SEP 1985
Authors:  Herman E. Pearse; Harry D. Kingsley; John A. Schilling; Lewis Hogg Jr.; Robert M. Blakney; ROCHESTER UNIV NY
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.Information concerning the flash burn resulting from an atomic bomb explosion was necessary to understand the lesion, its systematic effects, and prevention and treatment of these effects. In order to reproduce similar sources in the laboratory, it was essential to know the characteristics of the energy producing the biological effect. In order to obtain this information, anesthetized experimental animals were placed in shielded positions at varying distances from bomb zero ...

Wound Healing: Biochemical Pathways and in vivo Studies FEB 1980
Authors:  John A. Schilling; Patrick D. Goldsworthy; UNIV OF WASHINGTON SEATTLE DEPT OF SURGERY
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only. The insoluble collagens from connective tissue experimentally induced by rat, were analyzed for amino acid composition. Essentially no differences were observed, the comparative values for these species being similar. In the rat it was found that these tissues contained three classes of heteropolysaccharides in a complex mixture of glycosaminoglycans, collagen disaccharides, and sialoglycoproteins as well as a less soluble fraction which is more intimately bound to the collagen fibers of ...

Wound Healing: Biochemical Pathways and in vivo Studies JUL 1978
Authors:  John A. Schilling; Patrick D. Goldsworthy; UNIV OF WASHINGTON SEATTLE DEPT OF SURGERY
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only. The insoluble collagens from connective tissue, experimentally induced by stainless steel mesh cylinders implanted in man, dog, and rat, were analyzed for amino acid composition. Essentially no differences were observed, the comparative values for these species being similar. In the rat it was found that these tissues contained three classes of heteropolysaccharides in complex mixture of glycosaminoglycans, collagen disaccharides, and sialoglycoproteins as well as a less soluble fraction which is ...

Wound Healing: Biochemical Pathways, Ultrastructure, and Clinical Studies. 15 JUL 1974
Authors:  John A. Schilling; Betty N. White; Marion S. Lockhart; Kenneth M. Richter; Carl A. Nau; OKLAHOMA UNIV HEALTH SCIENCES CENTER OKLAHOMA CITY DEPT OF SURGERY
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.;Contents: Studies of insoluble collagen of experimentally induced connective tissues of man, dog, and rat; Further studies of the glycopeptides of the matrix of experimentally induced connective tissue of the rat; Comparative studies of wound connective tissue and adjacent host connective tissue in the dog and rat; Electron microscopic studies on the effect of temperature on the molecular configuration and integrity of carp swimbladder acid-soluble tropocollagen molecules; Electron microscopic studies ...
