Nanostructured Energetic Materials NOV 2006 39 pages
Authors:  R. V. Shende; S. SUBRAMANIAN; S. Hasan; S. Apperson; K. Gangopadhyay; S. Gangopadhyay; P. Redner; D. Kapoor and; S. Nicolich; MISSOURI UNIV-COLUMBIA DEPT OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
The full text of this report is available for sale. This paper reports synthesis of metastable intermolecular composite (MIC) containing CuO nanorods, nanowires combined with aluminum nanoparticles. These composites were prepared using ultrasonic mixing and self-assembly approach. The combustion wave speed as high as 2300 100 m/s was achieved for the MIC composites. We also report that the combustion wave speed can be easily tuned from 1 m/s to 2300 m/s for the nanoenergetic composites prepared using mesoporous Fe2O3 gel, ...

CHARACTERIZATION OF THE FIBER-MATRIX INTERPHASE AND ITS INFLUENCE ON MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF UNIDIRECTIONAL COMPOSITES 1996
Authors:  S. SUBRAMANIAN; J.J. Lesko; K.L. Reifsnider
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.THE FIBER-MATRIX INTERPHASE IS COMMONLY ALTERED IN GRAPHITE FIBER REINFORCED COMPOSITES BY CHANGING THE LEVEL OF SURFACE TREATMENT IMPARTED TO THE FIBERS AND BY USING DIFFERENT FIBER SIZINGS. IN THIS STUDY, THE INFLUENCE OF BOTH SURFACE TREATMENT AND FIBER SIZING ON THE MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF UNIDIRECTIONAL COMPOSITES WAS STUDIED. THREE MATERIAL SYSTEMS HAVING THE SAME HIGH MODULUS APOLLO CARBON FIBERS (MANUFACTURED BY COURTOULDS RESEARCH) AND HC 9106-3 TOUGHENED EPOXY MATRIX, ...
