An analytical solution is reported for the buckling of anisotropic cylindrical plates under biaxial compression and shear loads. Linear equations for laminated cylindrical shells, Donnell-type equations, are used in conjunction with Galerkin's method to determine critical buckling loads. Results obtained by the anisotropic solution indicate that significant nonconservative errors (up to 50%) can occur in buckling predictions in comparison with the orthotropic solution.
