Compact Hydrogen Maser with a High Temperature Superconductor-Based Cavity FEB 96 73 pages
Authors:  Michael E. Read; PHYSICAL SCIENCES INC ANDOVER MA
The full text of this report is available for sale. The goal of the program was the demonstration of the feasibility of a compact hydrogen maser by use of a high temperature superconductor (HTS)-based cavity. The cavity was of the "lumped element" type, with dimensions about 1/4 those of the TE(sub 01) cylindrical cavity normally used. A coating of HTS on the cavity electrodes was used to increase the Q from about 5,000 for copper to a value over 25,000 ...

Free Electron and Cyclotron Resonance Distributed Feedback Lasers and Masers. 28 APR 1987
Authors:  Avraham Gover; Michael E. Read; DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY WASHINGTON DC
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.Free-electron lasers and masers are modified by eliminating the resonator cavity as such. The feedback mechanism, essential to oscillation, is distributed through and integrated with the transmission line which guides the electromagnetic wave at the active region where interaction with the electron beam takes place. The feedback structure is created by perturbations in the transmission line along the length thereof at the locations of the zero electric field lines of ...

Complex Cavity Gyrotron. 19 NOV 1985
Authors:  Michael E. Read; Yuval Carmel; Kwo R. Chu; Achintya K. Ganguly; DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY WASHINGTON DC
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.A complex gravity gyrotron designed for stable operation at high order modes. The device comprises circuitry for generating an annular electron beam, a coupled cavity disposed coaxially with the electron beam and having a first and second adjacent coaxial sections with the dimensions of these coaxial sections adjusted so that different modes with the same azimuthal eigen number but different radial eigen numbers are simultaneously resonant at approximately the same ...
