Sulfur mustard (HD) is a vesicating agent that alkylates cellular DNA and produces DNA strand breaks. The comet assay (single-cell gel electrophoresis) was used to detect HD-induced DNA single strand breaks in human peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL).
