Hydrogen-Rated System for In Vitro Studies at Pressure: Experimental Validation OCT 93 48 pages
Authors:  H. J. Moore; J. S. Colton; K. Miller; G. Imbert; NAVAL MEDICAL RESEARCH INST BETHESDA MD
The full text of this report is available for sale.A special hyperbaric perfusion apparatus was constructed to study the neurophysiologic effect of high pressure and the pharmacology of various gaseous agents using the isolated nerve terminal (synaptosome) tissue preparation. This study was performed to validate the performance of this apparatus in comparison with an alternate device constructed of different materials. This was motivated by theoretical considerations and some anecdotal indications that stainless steel, utilized in the fabrication of the ...

Digital Servocontroller System. Volume 1. Operations Manual FEB 85
Authors:  J. Lopez; K. Miller; SOUTHWEST RESEARCH INST SAN ANTONIO TX
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only. This final report describes an exploratory development effort for the design and fabrication of a digital servocontroller system for load control in full-scale air-frame fatigue tests. Each digital controller replaces four analog controllers. The LSI-11/23 microcomputer in the digital controller executes a PI algorithm to implement direct digital control. It may operate in a stand-alone mode or as a slave processor to a master computer via fiber optic link. Other ...

A Safety Evaluation of the Relocation of the ACM (Air Combat Maneuver) Panel in the F-14 ( )/AIP (Avionics Integration Program) 14 MAY 84
Authors:  G. Frisch; K. Miller; NAVAL AIR DEVELOPMENT CENTER WARMINSTER PA AIRCRAFT AND CREW SYSTEMS TECHNOLO GY DIRECTORATE
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.A goal of the F-14 Avionics Integration Program (AIP) is to increase the field-of-view of the pilot's Head-up Display (HUD). One way to accomplish this would be to move the HUD closer to the pilot. However, if this were done, the Air Combat Maneuvering Panel (ACM), which is located on the face of the HUD housing, would either intrude, by approximately 1.25 inches, into the ejection envelope or the ACM ...

Performance Evaluation of the Hi-Speed Ejection Limb Protection System (HELPS) 30 JAN 1984
Authors:  K. Miller; NAVAL AIR DEVELOPMENT CENTER WARMINSTER PA AIRCRAFT AND CREW SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGY DIRECTORATE
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only. The HELPS performance evaluation consisted of a series of tests to evaluate deployment, cinch-up and restraint effectiveness. Test facilities used to evaluate HELPS included the NADC Ejection Tower, the Dayton T. Brown Windblast Facility and an F-14 Aircraft which was made available at the Naval Air Test Center, Patuxent River. The following pages describe the results of these evaluations. (author)

Physiological Acceptability Tests of the Modified SJU-5/A Ejection Seat for the F-18 Aircraft. JAN 1984
The program was conducted to demonstrate physiological acceptability of the Martin-Baker SJU-5/A (modified) Escape System planned for installation in the Navy's F-18 aircraft. Twenty ejection tests were run on the Naval Air Development Center Ejection Tower Facility using both anthropomorphic dummies and human volunteer test subjects. As a result of this program the seat was found to be physiologically acceptable.

A Compact Satcom Antenna for X- and Q-Band APR 1982
Authors:  S. J. Lin; L. Henderson; K. Miller; B. A. Munk; OHIO STATE UNIV COLUMBUS ELECTROSCIENCE LAB
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only. This report describes the development of a Satcom antenna for X- (7. 25-7.75 GHz) and Q-band (43-46 GHz). The Q-band antenna is comprised of a dichroic parabolic dish of tripoles making it reflective in Q-band and transparent in X-band. The X-band antenna is made of 24 dipoles in front of a ground plane with the entire X-band array mounted directly behind the Q-band dish. Thus, two bands are covered with ...

The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.Contents: LC/MARC on molds--an experiment in computer-based, interactive bibliographic storage, search, retrieval, and processing; SURPARS--an on-line data system; Information retrieval project.

A PORTABLE MULTI-PURPOSE RADIATION DETECTION INSTRUMENT 16 FEB 1961
Authors:  G.T. KIYOI; K.F. SINCLAIR; K. Miller; NAVAL RADIOLOGICAL DEFENSE LAB SAN FRANCISCO CALIF
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.A portable high range multi-purpose radiation detection instrument is described. The device performs three separate functions: (1) measurement of gamma dose rate (2) measurement of beta plus gamma dose rate and (3) measurement of beta dose rate in the presence of gamma radiation (by means of gamma cancellation). The ranges of operation for each of these functions are 0 - 2 rad/hr, 0 - 10 rad/hr, 0 - 100 rad/hr, ...
