| A wide ranging investigation has been made of the potential of reaction bonded and hot-pressed silicon nitride components in diesel engines. These have ranged from stationary high-thermal stress items such as 'hot plugs' (combustion pre-chamber liners), to dynamic items such as turbocharger rotors.
