Investigation of Plume Induced Separation on a Full-Size Missile at Supersonic Velocities 20 JUN 1980 26 pages
Authors:  T. A. Martin; ARMY MISSILE COMMAND REDSTONE ARSENAL AL SYSTEMS SIMULATION AND DEVELOPMENTDIRECTORATE
The full text of this report is available for sale.A large amount of data to determine plume effects have been obtained from various simulation techniques. To provide data for evaluating the adequacy of these simulations, a test utilizing a rocket sled to measure surface pressures on a full-size, live, high thrust rocket at Mach number up to Moo 1.6. Selected portions of the data are presented to show Mach number and thrust level effects.

Investigation of the Effect of Low Thrust Levels on the Base Pressure of a Cylindrical Body at Supersonic Speeds. 07 MAY 1970 73 pages
Authors:  T. A. Martin; C. E. Brazzel; ARMY MISSILE RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT AND ENGINEERING LAB REDSTONE ARSENAL AL AER OBALLISTICS DIRECTORATE
The full text of this report is available for sale. Results of supersonic wind tunnel tests are presented which show the effects of varying nozzle geometry, location, and supply pressure on the base pressure of a cylindrical body at zero angle of attack. The purpose of the tests was to investigate the parametric influences in the regions where base pressure is near a minimum, which occurs in the lower range of thrust levels. A bibliography of related experimental results is ...
