THIS STUDY LOOKED AT THE INFLUENCE OF DOSAGE, ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION, SPECIES AND THERAPEUTIC INTERVENTION IN DETERMINING THE FATE AND DETECTION OF T-2 TOXIN IN RATS AND PIGS. THE ANALYSES INCLUDED ANALYSIS OF DEXAMETHASONE, DIAGNOSTIC SCREENING METHOD FOR DETECTION OF TRICHOTHECENE EXPOSURE, MASS SPECTRA OF TRICHOTHECENE MYCOTOXINS, GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY OF TRICHOTHECENES, THERMOSPRAY HPLC/MS, AND RAMONA D RADIOACTIVITY DETECTOR FOR HPLC.
IN THIS STUDY THE IN VITRO METABOLISM OF T-2 TOXIN BY LIVER MICROSOMES, FORTIFIED WITH A NADPH GENERATING SYSTEM, PREPARED FROM THE RAT, RABBIT, MOUSE, AND CHICKEN WAS COMPARED. IN THE PRESENCE OF THE NADPH GENERATING SYSTEM, THE OXIDATION OF T-2 TOXIN BY MICROSOMAL PREPARATIONS COULD BE EVALUATED IN A MANNER SIMILAR TO EARLIER STUDIES COMPARING THE HYDROLYSIS OF THE ESTER GROUPS.
