Two-Color Multiplex Assay for the Identification of Orthopox Viruses with Real-Time LUX-PCR 14 JUL 2005 7 pages
Authors:  M. Aitichou; S. Javorschi; M. S. Ibrahim; ARMY MEDICAL RESEARCH INST OF INFECTIOUS DISEASES FORT DETRICK MD VIROLOGY DIV
The full text of this report is available for sale. The LUX (Light Upon eXtension) is a real-time detection system that can be used for the detection and quantification of pathogens nucleic acids. In this study we used a universal LUX approach, a variation of the LUX detection system, for identifying Orthopox virus nucleic acids in real time. This approach enables the design of sequence-specific primer sets in high identity genome sequences. The assay described here is designed to allow ...

Detection of Staphylococcus Aureus Enterotoxin A and B Genes with PCR-EIA and a Hand-Held Electrochemical Sensor 11 JUN 2004 6 pages
Authors:  Mohamed Aitichou; Robert Henkins; Afroz M. Sultana; Robert G. Ulrich; M. S. Ibrahim; ARMY MEDICAL RESEARCH INST OF INFECTIOUS DISEASES FORT DETRICK MD
The full text of this report is available for sale. Two electrochemical assays for detecting Staphylococcus aureus enterotoxin A and B genes were developed. The assays are based on PCR amplification with biotinylated primers, hybridization to a fluorescein-labeled probe, and detection with horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated anti-fluorescein antibody using a hand-held electrochemical detector. The limit of detection (LOD) for both assays was approximately 16 copies of the sea and seb genes. The assays were evaluated in blinded studies, each with 81 ...
