A CAPACITOR ANALOG MEMORY. 19 JAN 1967
Authors:  Robert Leonard Nelson Jr.; Cyrus O. Harbourt; TEXAS UNIV AT AUSTIN LABS FOR ELECTRONICS AND RELATED SCIENCE RESEARCH
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.A circuit was devised which exhibits long-term analog memory by stabilizing the voltage across a capacitor. The voltage controls the length of a delay whose beginning is synchronized with an oscillator. After the delay, the oscillator output is sampled and fed as a current to the capacitor. This is repeated at regular intervals so that average current is a periodic function of voltage. Over a certain range, the feedback current ...

ACTIVE NETWORK SYNTHESIS USING PRACTICAL AMPLIFIERS. 16 DEC 1966
Authors:  Ray E. Cooper; Cyrus O. Harbourt; TEXAS UNIV AT AUSTIN LABS FOR ELECTRONICS AND RELATED SCIENCE RESEARCH
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only. Two synthesis procedures are presented for active RC common ground networks. The active elements used are practical amplifiers having finite input and output impedances and gain. These amplifiers are more easily realized than are ideal elements such as negative impedance converters, gyrators, and negative resistors. Active RC networks are particularly appealing for use in microcircuits and low frequency applications where inductors are not practical. The two amplifier method allows the ...

TRANSISTOR THRESHOLD LOGIC GATES. 31 AUG 1966
Authors:  Roy M. Matney II; Cyrus O. Harbourt; TEXAS UNIV AT AUSTIN LABS FOR ELECTRONICS AND RELATED SCIENCE RESEARCH
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.Threshold gates can be built using many types of devices such as transistors, tubes, tunnel diodes, and silicon controlled switches. The transistor threshold gate is studied here because of its small size, low power dissipation and good transition characteristics. The importance of sensitivity depends upon the logical function being realized. Complex functions require a less sensitive gate. State transition speed is limited by saturation and by high impedance levels. Using ...

AN ADAPTIVE THRESHOLD LOGIC GATE USING CAPACITIVE ANALOG WEIGHTS. 15 AUG 1966
Authors:  John R. Smith Jr.; Cyrus O. Harbourt; TEXAS UNIV AT AUSTIN LABS FOR ELECTRONICS AND RELATED SCIENCE RESEARCH
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.A trainable adaptive threshold logic gate is described. A review of basic theory of threshold logic is presented along with a description of a training technique. Capacitors capable of exhibiting long term analog memory are used in the physical realization of an adaptive threshold logic gate. A description of both the capacitive analog memory and the trainable gate is given. Training results of the adaptive threshold device are exhibited for ...

A STUDY OF NONLINEAR NEGATIVE CAPACITANCE 16 AUG 1965 119 pages
Authors:  Charles Lester Wright Jr.; Cyrus O. Harbourt; TEXAS UNIV AT AUSTIN LABS FOR ELECTRONICS AND RELATED SCIENCE RESEARCH
The full text of this report is available for sale.An analytical study is made of the behavior of a certain class of RLC networks which contain a theoretical nonlinear negative capacitance along with various possible combinations of constant parasitic elements that are certain to be present in any physical realization of this type of capacitance. The theoretical capacitor is defined in terms of its charge-voltage relationship. This study is directed toward an evaluation of the usefulness of a nonlinear ...
