Evaluation of Ozonation and Chlorination for Disinfection of Blackwater. DEC 1976
Authors:  Kenneth J. McNulty; Robert L. Goldsmith; ABCOR INC WILMINGTON MASS WALDEN RESEARCH DIV
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.Ozonation and chlorination were experimentally evaluated as alternative techniques for the disinfection of blackwater. The experiments focused primarily on determining the dosages of chlorine and ozone required to achieve a fecal coliform concentration of 200 colonies per 100 ml. The required ozone dosage (< 750 mg/l for the samples tested) was approximately three times as great as the required chlorine dosage (< 240 mg/l for the samples tested). Various temperatures ...

Evaluation of Membrane Separation Processes, Carbon Adsorption, and Ozonation for Treatment of MUST Hospital Wastes. AUG 1976
Authors:  Arye Z. Gollan; Kenneth J. McNulty; Robert L. Goldsmith; Myles H. Kleper; Donald C. Grant; ABCOR INC WILMINGTON MASS WALDEN RESEARCH DIV
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only. The long range objective of this program is the development of a compact 4000 gallon-per-day waste treatment system to process non-sanitary wastes (shower, operating room, kitchen, laboratory, x-ray, and laundry) from the operation of a MUST Army field hospital. The system is to be capable of operating in either of two modes: (1) waste treatment for 'reuse' within the hospital complex, and (2) 'waste treatment' for discharge to the environment ...

Development of an On-Line Organic Analyzer for the MUST Water Processing Element. MAY 1976
Authors:  Kenneth J. McNulty; Robert L. Goldsmith; John F. McCoy; Alexandra Zakak; ABCOR INC WILMINGTON MASS WALDEN RESEARCH DIV
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.A continuous organics monitor is required for the MUST water processing element in order to monitor the organics level of the treated effluent and to initiate process control action. The long-range objective of this program is the development of a simple, reliable, compact, low-cost TOC analyzer capable of continuously monitoring 'clean' MUST waste streams. As a first step in this development, a breadboard TOC monitor was designed, assembled, and tested ...

Ultrafiltration Concept for Separating Oil from Water. JAN 1973
Authors:  Robert L. Goldsmith; Schrab Hossain; ABCOR INC CAMBRIDGE MASS
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.Discharge of oily wastes from shipboard operations of deballasting, bilge pumping and slop tank cleaning constitutes a serious water pollution problem. Membrane ultrafiltration was studied in this project as a means of generating a highly purified water from a variety of oily wastes.
