Journal of Computational Electronics: Proceedings of the International Workshop on Computational Electronics (8th) (IWCE-8), Beckman Institute, University of Illinois, 15-18 October 2001. Volume 1, Issue 1-2 2002
Authors:  D. K. Ferry; K. Hess; ARIZONA STATE UNIV TEMPE DEPT OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only. The Journal of Computation Electronics fills the need tor a publication dedicated to physical simulation of devices and processes, with a focus on interdisciplinary work and large scale supercomputing applications. The community typically attending IWCE best represents the audience addressed by the Journal of Computational Electronics, but the composition of this community has grown over the years to include even more discipline areas. The emphasis of the first workshops was ...

The full text of this report is available for sale.Superlattices and Microstructures is a journal devoted to the science and technology of synthetic microstructures, microdevices, surfaces and interfaces. The last decade has seen rapid developments in the fabrication, characterization and conceptual understanding of synthetic microstructures in many different material systems including silicon, III-V and II-VI semiconductors, metals, ceramics and organics. The objective of this journal is to provide a common interdisciplinary platform for the publication of the latest research ...

Non-Equilibrium Green's Function Approach to Dielectric Response: De- Screening of the Coulomb Interaction at High Electric Fields 92
Authors:  K-s Yi; A. M. Kriman; D. K. Ferry; ARIZONA STATE UNIV TEMPE CENTER FOR SOLID STATE ELECTRONICS RESEARCH
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.High-field dielectric response is investigated using the technique of non-equilibrium Green's functions based on an Airy-coordinate formulation. The field-dependent polarization function of the system is derived. De-screening of the Coulomb interaction due to collisional broadening and high electric field is examined. ANNOTATION: Reprint: Non-Equilibrium Green's Function Approach to Dielectric Response: De-Screening of the Coulomb Interaction at High Electric Fields.

A Study of Electronic Transport and Breakdown in SiO2 01 MAR 88
Authors:  D. K. Ferry; ARIZONA STATE UNIV TEMPE CENTER FOR SOLID STATE ELECTRONICS RESEARCH
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.Transport of electrons in silicon dioxide, at high electric fields, has been of much interest for quite some time. In spite of this, the role of various scattering processes has not yet been sorted out. At low fields, electrons show a mobility in the 20-30 sq. cm/V-sec range, and at high fields (of the order of 1 MV/cm) begin to exhibit hot carrier effects. The polar modes are the dominant ...

Modeling and Transport in Semiconductor Devices NOV 87
Authors:  D. K. Ferry; ARIZONA STATE UNIV TEMPE
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.Time resolved, subpisecond laser pulse techniques were used to experimentally study the ultrafast relaxation process in the far-from equilibrium electron-hole plasma in Gallium Arsenide. Several theoretical studies have been carried out to explain these experimental measurements. The novel ensemble Monte Carlo simulation technique was used to investigate the cooling process of the hot laser-excited carriers, considering the roles of the carrier-phonon interaction, electron-hole interaction, and the hot phonon effects. The ...

Degeneracy in the Ensemble Monte Carlo Method for High Field Transport in Semiconductors 01 JUL 86
Authors:  P. Lugli; D. K. Ferry; ARIZONA STATE UNIV TEMPE CENTER FOR SOLID STATE ELECTRONICS RESEARCH
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.An algorithm to include the Pauli exclusion principle in the Ensemble Monte Carlo method is presented. The results indicate that significant changes in the transport properties of GaAs have to be expected when degenerate conditions are reached. Important repercussions should be found in the modeling of microwave devices, where one often deals with highly doped regions. Keywords: Semiconductors; Transport; Scattering; High fields; Reprints.

Dynamical Screening of Hot Carriers in Semiconductors from a Coupled Molecular-Dynamics and Ensemble Monte Carlo Simulation 24 MAR 86
Authors:  P. Lugli; D. K. Ferry; ARIZONA STATE UNIV TEMPE CENTER FOR SOLID STATE ELECTRONICS RESEARCH
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only. The dynamical screening of hot carriers in semiconductors is studied by inclusion of the electron-electron interaction directly via a molecular- dynamics approach within the more usual ensemble Monte Carlo technique. It is found that the intercarrier interaction cannot be treated by a simple screened Coulomb interaction at very high electric fields, but is characterized by a complicated field- and density-dependent screening function. The details of intercarrier forces are illustrated by ...

Transport in Submicron Mosfets 01 AUG 1983
Authors:  D. K. Ferry; COLORADO STATE UNIV FORT COLLINS
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only. One of the main driving forces in solid-state electronics is the thrust to develop smaller and faster active devices, which dissipate very little power, for eventual use in large-scale integrated circuits. In most situations, however, the actual power-delay product of the device itself is not as important as constraints of charging the interconnection capacitances of the wiring. In this introduction, we show that there is a fundamental lower bound to ...
