Structure of the Double Layer at Solid Solution Interfaces. 01 JUL 1971
Authors:  S. H. Kim; Y. Matsuda; A. Damjanovic; J. O'M. Bockris; PENNSYLVANIA UNIV PHILADELPHIA DEPT OF CHEMISTRY
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only. The structure of the electrical double layer at solid metal-solution interface has been studied. A new technique, based on electrocapillary thermodynamics, has been developed to determine surface excess charge of ions at an electrode for various electrode potentials and solution concentrations. The technique makes use of rapid immersion of a dry electrode into solution and following the charging current required to form the electrical double layer. With this technique, the ...

TUNGSTEN BRONZE RELATED NON-NOBLE ELECTROCATALYSTS. MAY 1970
Authors:  J. O'M. Bockris; R. A. Fredlein; A. Damjanovic; PENNSYLVANIA UNIV PHILADELPHIA ELECTROCHEMISTRY LAB
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.Sodium tungsten bronzes incorporating a second transition metal (Nb, Ta, V, Co and Zr) were prepared. Techniques of chemical analysis have been developed and some bronzes analyzed. X-Ray diffraction studies show these bronzes to be mixed bronzes in which the second transition metal partly replaces tungsten in the lattice. Oxygen evolution and dissolution were studied on the mixed bronzes and some pure bronzes. pH and oxygen partial pressure dependencies have ...

TUNGSTEN BRONZE RELATED NON-NOBLE ELECTROCATALYSTS. SEP 1969
Authors:  J. O'M. Bockris; R. A. Fredlein; B. Lovrecek; A. Damjanovic; PENNSYLVANIA UNIV PHILADELPHIA ELECTRO-CHEMISTRY LAB
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.Titanium, zirconium, vanadium, niobium, tantalum, molybdenum and tungsten disilicides and also zirconium, vanadium, niobium and molybdenum carbides were examined as oxygen electrodes. Steady state potentiostatic experiments were performed on the substrates in rod form, in argon and oxygen saturated 0.1 N sulfuric acid solutions. The data obtained are interpreted in terms of the formation of oxide films on these substrates. The electrochemical growth of sodium tungsten bronze crystals from a ...

REVERSIBLE OXYGEN ELECTRODES. 14 OCT 1965
Authors:  M. Genshaw; K. Wong; A. Damjanovic; PENNSYLVANIA UNIV PHILADELPHIA ELECTRO-CHEMISTRY LAB
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only. The mechanism of oxygen reduction at rhodium electrodes was studied using the rotating disk electrode with a concentric ring. At pre-reduced, oxide free electrodes no H2O2 is formed either as an intermediate or in a reaction parallel to that of H2O formation. In the presence of 'impurities' H2O2 is produced in a parallel reaction to the main path for H2O production. At preoxidized Rh electrode, some H2O2 is produced, apparently ...

REVERSIBLE OXYGEN ELECTRODES. 13 JUL 1965
Authors:  M. Genshaw; K. Wong; A. Damjanovic; PENNSYLVANIA UNIV PHILADELPHIA ELECTRO-CHEMISTRY LAB
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only. The mechanism of oxygen reduction on the surface of gold electrodes was studied using a rotating disk electrode with a ring. In acid solution hydrogen peroxide is the product of the reduction. In alkaline solutions hydrogen peroxide is an intermediate during the reduction. By oxidation and reduction small areas on the gold surface become more active and reduce oxygen directly to water. (Author)

ELECTROCHEMISTRY. JAN 1965
Authors:  E. Gileadi; B. Piersma; A. Damjanovic; B. Rubin; PENNSYLVANIA UNIV PHILADELPHIA ELECTRO-CHEMISTRY LAB
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only.A method of determining the extent of adsorption from solution onto solid metal electrodes was developed and was applied to the adsorption of ethylene on Pt electrodes from 1 N H2SO4 solution.

REVERSIBLE OXYGEN ELECTRODES. 31 MAR 1964
Authors:  A. Damjanovic; V. Brusic; M. Genshaw; PENNSYLVANIA UNIV PHILADELPHIA ELECTRO-CHEMISTRY LAB
The full text of this report is not available and therefore is not for sale. This information is provided for reference purposes only. The dependence of the rest potentials established on the oxide-free platinum electrodes on pH of the solution was examined at a given partial pressure of oxygen. Also, the change in the nature of the potential with the time of contact of the electrode with the oxygen saturated solution was analyzed. Catalytic activity for the reduction of oxygen on a number of metal electrodes was examined with the aim of determining ...
