FIDEP2 User Manual to Micromechanical Models for Thermoviscoplastic Behavior of Metal Matrix Composites SEP 1998 246 pages
Authors:  Demirkan Coker; Frank Boller; Joseph Kroupa; Noel E. Ashbaugh; DAYTON UNIV OH RESEARCH INST
The full text of this report is available for sale. The FIDEP2 (Finite-Difference code for Elastic-viscoplastic analysis) is a PC-compatible, user-friendly computer code developed in-house at the Materials Directorate, Air Force Research Laboratory, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. The program is capable of predicting micromechanical stresses in metal matrix composites under complex thermal and mechanical loading histories. The FIDEP2 is a generalized version of the FIDEP program, which was limited by the concentric cylindrical geometry and elastic-plastic constitutive model. The FIDEP2 program ...

Elastic-Plastic Finite-Difference Analysis of Unidirectional Composites Subjected to Thermomechanical Cyclic Loading DEC 92 99 pages
Authors:  Demirkan Coker; Noel E. Ashbaugh; DAYTON UNIV OH RESEARCH INST
The full text of this report is available for sale.An analytical tool was developed to model a unidirectional composite subjected to thermomechanical cyclic loading and processing conditions. The finite difference method was incorporated into a PC compatible computer code, FIDEP (Finite-Difference Code for Elastic-Plastic Analysis of Composites). FIDEP provides an efficient numerical procedure for analyzing a variety of problems involving thermal and mechanical cycling. The procedure allows the modeling of the constituent materials as elastic-plastic with temperature dependent properties. ...

Characterization of Fracture in (0/90)3s SiC/1723 Composites MAR 92 68 pages
Authors:  Demirkan Coker; Noel E. Ashbaugh; DAYTON UNIV OH RESEARCH INST
The full text of this report is available for sale. The fracture behavior of 0 DEG/90 DEG sub 3s cross-plied ceramic- matrix composites is evaluated using compact tension specimens. The influence of notch preparation (abrasive water-jet or diamond saw cut) and fatigue precracking is investigated. The extent that a calculated critical stress intensity factor can be used as a fracture toughness parameter is investigated. The stress-intensity factor corresponding to the maximum load. K sub peak is found to yield consistent ...
