In the article, we focus on the properties, sources, sinks, measurement techniques, and distribution patterns of the major dissolved component of ocean color, CDOM. Through an understanding of the complex characteristics and environmental interactions of the CDOM pool, we can gain valuable insight into a variety of physical and biogeochemical processes occurring in coastal and shelf regions.
