This information is provided for reference purposes only.Reinforced plastic, foam filled compressor blades have been developed to replace wood for use in the compressor of the world's largest privately owned transonic wind tunnel. This twenty-four foot diameter compressor has a two stage rotor of thirty-six blades each. These blades have, at the time of this writing, over 500 hours of successful operation with no indication of any structural defects. (Author).
