We have prepared and examined the resistivity and magnetic susceptibility of a series of ternary compounds with composition Ce8Pd24M, where M is one of Ga, In, Sn, Sb, Pb or Bi and the related composition La8Pd24In. All members of this series are cubic with effective cerium moments consistent with tri-valent cerium. The lanthanum compound behaves as a simple metal in resistivity and has a small, negative susceptibility at 295K. All ...
