Abstract:
In order to avoid maintenance cost penalties, aluminum aircraft structure nondestructive test methods are studied, including ultrasonics, radiography, neutronography and Foucault currents. Pitting corrosion is easy to detect, but intergranular corrosion is better detected by ultrasonics or neutronography. The best solution to inspect real aircraft structures is a method based on multiparameter analysis of ultrasonic signals.
