TERRAIN EMBOSS: ITS APPLICATION TO SHADED RELIEF PRODUCTION BY RELIEF MODEL PHOTOGRAPHY.

Authors: Walter J. Luber; AERONAUTICAL CHART AND INFORMATION CENTER ST LOUIS MO
Abstract:
A simplified hand-tooling technique for model making, developed at the Aeronautical Chart and Information Center for the primary purpose of improving production of shaded relief portrayal on USAF charts. Basic concepts and operational procedure are discussed and examples of models and printings are illustrated. A general updating is reflected in this revised edition, highlighted by improved tooling technique and examples of types of relief formations. During the three year period since the initial publication of this report hundreds of embossed relief models have been produced to service shaded relief and other chart requirements. (Author)
