Finite Element Calculations of Cylinder Natural Frequencies

Authors: Layton E. Gilroy; DEFENCE RESEARCH ESTABLISHMENT ATLANTIC DARTMOUTH (NOVA SCOTIA)
Abstract:
Computer programs have been developed at DREA for predicting natural frequencies of structures submerged in a dense compressible fluid. This technical communication presents results from numerical studies performed to assist in the validation of these programs. Two unstiffened right cylinder are analysed using the finite element codes COUPLE and VAST and the results are compared with published results from other element codes, analytical results, and experimental data. Natural frequencies, Cylinder, Submerged, Structures, Finite elements, Fluid/structure interaction.
