Flow Fields in Wall Jet Receivers with Right Angle Spill Flow at the Entrance.

Abstract:
ST EQUIPMENT, TEST METHODS, MATHEMATICAL MODELS, NOZZLES, DUCTSTHEMIS PROJECTFlow issuing from a nozzle in fluid amplifiers and impinging on a receiver with a spill port oriented at 90 degree with respect to the direction of the through flow was investigated. The effects of receiver width and length on the flow field were studied for a range of downstream receiver loading conditions varying from fully open to completely blocked. Velocity, wall static, and total pressure distributions were acquired. It was found that the receiver exit static pressure recovery coefficient increased with increasing spill flow up to a critical value of spill flow at which the jet switched to the spill port side of the receiver. Switching was investigated at low spill flow ratios for cases of large setback. (Author Modified Abstract)
