Characterization of Mechanical Behavior of SCS-6/Ti-6-4 MMC at Elevated Temperatures

Authors: C. T. Sun; J. L. Chen; G. T. Sha; W. E. Koop; PURDUE UNIV LAFAYETTE IN SCHOOL OF AERONAUTICS AND ASTRONAUTICS
Abstract:
Scs-6/ti-6-4 metal matrix composite was used to perform off-axis tension tests at room temperature, 400 f, and 600 f. to characterize the plastic stress-strain relations a one-parameter plasticity model was used. also used was a micromechanical model assuming elastic fiber and elastic-plastic matrix was used to predict the fiber/matrix bond strength on the stress obtained from the off-axis tension test result.
