A new metastable beta titanium alloy (Ti-22V-4Al) has been developed to improve the cold workability. The as solution-treated alloy was found to be a relatively soft beta alloy with 74 kg/sq mm of tensile strength and 62% of reduction in area. After aging at 475 C for 4 hours, the maximum tensile strength, 112 kg/sq mm, was obtained with reduction in area, 32%. These values were comparable with the conventional Ti-6Al-4V alloy.
