Abstract:
Silicon nitride powders containing zirconium, aluminum, and magnesium metal and nitride additives were densified and studied at 2100 C under 5 MPa nitrogen pressures in a dilatometer. Additions of single metals or nitrides were ineffective in improving densification, but combinations such as Zr-AlN proved effective.
