The Post-Military West: Globalization's Impact on U.S. Strategic Culture

Authors: Thomas W Luscher; ARMY WAR COLL CARLISLE BARRACKS PA
Abstract:
Among sociologists, a commonly discussed aspect of globalization, beyond an inevitable clash of cultures, is the rise of a homogeneous or heterogeneous world culture. If such a phenomenon is occurring, the American strategic leader should be concerned with the influence of this common culture on the strategic culture of the United States. This Strategic Research Project examines the possible rise of a common Western political culture, its influence on U.S. strategic culture, and the issues and concerns it poses for American military leaders.
