On the Calculation of Potential Flow about a Body in an Unbounded Fluid.

Authors: Francis Noblesse; George Triantafyllou; MASSACHUSETTS INST OF TECH CAMBRIDGE DEPT OF OCEAN ENGINEERING
Abstract:
This study is concerned with the problem of calculating potential flow about a nonlifting body in an unbounded fluid. Several simple explicit approximations for the velocity potential are obtained and investigated numerically. Results of calculations are presented for the simple cases of potential flows due to translations of ellipsoids and ogives. (Author)
