Advanced Methods of Approximate Reasoning

Authors: Enrique Ruspini; SRI INTERNATIONAL MENLO PARK CA ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE CENTER

Abstract: The major goals of the program of research on approximate reasoning of the Artificial Intelligence Center (AIC), SRI International, are: The development of sound formal foundations to explain the different methodologies proposed to solve the problems associated with the processing of imprecise and uncertain information; The identification of criteria to determine the applicability of these methodologies to specific problems; The development of methods for the approximate modeling of real world systems; The development of techniques for the analysis of approximate models and determination of their behavioral properties, such as stability, robustness, and controllability.
