Evaluation of the Tendency Toward Cold-Crack Formation During the Welding of Steels

Abstract:
The development and nucleation of cold cracks have been investigated in 23F2CA welded steel joints using the acoustic emission technique. A theoretical model on the mechanisms of nucleation, coalescence, and propagation of micro- and macrocracks has been verified by experiments.
