Abstract: The Department of the Navy (DON) Chief Information Officer (CIO) has led the effort to define the vision, scope, strategy, and concept of operations (CONOPS), for the Department of the Navy's future Naval Networking Environment (NNE), in the 2016 timeframe. The information contained in this paper will allow the Department to formulate the strategy behind NNE-2016 that is linked to the warfighting and warfighting support needs of the Department.
