Abstract:
(U) THIS PAPER DISCUSSES A MODEL OF HUMAN VISION AND VISUAL COGNITION THAT CAN BE RUN UNDER MICROSOFT WINDOWS ON A HIGEND LAPTOP PC. THE MODEL AUTOMATES MANY OF THE IMAGE CONVERSION AND PARAMETER SETTING TASKS. THE SYSTEM INCLUDES WHAT THE AUTHORS CLAIM ARE IMPROVEMENTS OVER OTHER MODELS, INCLUDING EFFICIENT IMAGE PROCESSING ALGORITHMS FOR FASTER INPUT, AND OTHER FACTORS. THE MODEL CAN BE USED PURPORTEDLY TO EVALUATE CCD EFFECTIVENESS IN THE FIELD, AS A FUNCTION OF TARGET PLACEMENT AND DEFILADE. THE RESULTS OF AN EXAMPLE CCD EFFECTIVENESS TEST ARE PRESENTED.
