Ground Control Survey at Fort Benning, Georgia

Authors: Charles D. Hahn; ENGINEER RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT CENTER VICKSBURG MS ENVIRONMENTAL LAB
Abstract:
It was decided that a combination of real-time kinematic (RTK) GPS techniques and static survey techniques would provide a much less expensive method to provide the necessary survey control at each site. A static GPS survey was used to establish a control network of high accuracy (first order standards) . The reference stations (base stations) would then be used for RTK surveys to actually survey the instrument locations at the measurement sites.
