An Analytic Phase Function for Cylindrical Particles

Authors: Patti Gillespie; ARMY LAB COMMAND WHITE SANDS MISSILE RANGE NM ATMOSPHERIC SCIENCES LAB
Abstract:
In this report an analytic phase function for cylindrical particles is developed based on considerations used to develop the Henyey-Greenstein phase function and functions based on electromagnetic theory calculations. The phase function developed in this report is compared to other phase functions and its usefulness is demonstrated. An annotated bibliography on the subject of phase functions for cylindrical particles is included. scattering, aerosol, cylindrical particles, radiative transfer, extinction.
