A Collaborative Study of Sleep, Performance and Health Relationships

Authors: Gregory Belenky; Hans Van Dongen; WASHINGTON STATE UNIV SPOKANE
Abstract:
The Sleep and Performance Research Center (SPRC) at Washington State University will conduct laboratory and field studies of sleep loss and performance in normal humans. These studies will provide the scientific basis for the effective management of sleep to sustain performance in the operational environment, including all 24x7 operations, extended work hours, and shiftwork. They will improve effectiveness, productivity, safety, health and well-being in military and civilian operations, reducing the likelihood of fatigue-related error, incident, accident or catastrophe.
